Pillowcase Dresses

I purchased 2 pillowcases for 50cents each at the thrift store. See in the bottom left?

 Using this pattern made them into these sweet dresses/nightgowns! Aren't they adorable?

 I was so tickled with them, esp. since little miss likes dresses, we picked up four more pillowcases. 6 nightgowns/dresses for $3.00. 

Bed Skirt

I've seen some unique ways to add a bed skirt to your bed lately on Pinterest. That started the idea. I was tired of looking at our boxspring, our decorations and our food storage under the bed.

Instead of a new one for $10-15 at the store. I bought this one at the consignment store. Washed it. Tried to dye it black. and then got to work with some tan fabric I purchased there as well. 

Total cost = $3.00

 I cut this tan fabric into strips and sewed them together to make one long strip. Then hem one side.

 Attach the right sides together  (I measured from the box spring top to the floor and wanted the tan to go from the floor up to the bed frame so that's all you see most of the time)

It is not perfect but a fun project and the tans actually match better than it looks in these pictures so it will hopefully draw no notice. As if we ever have visitors in our bedroom :)

Dining Set

My mom and dad gave us these 6 dining chairs before we left Texas. These were our chairs growing up. There's even one with worn spots from a booster seat on one!

We left our chairs in Utah when we moved to Texas so for a few years we just ate on the couch. Then Hadley needed a chair so we used office chairs we'd collected.

Then my parents took pity on us and gave us these chairs. I love them. They are so sturdy. I sanded them down and stained them as show below. Mom also offered to swap tables with us, ours had cracked tiles and was too small for 6 chairs. Plus I want to be able to make forts with our table and our other one had a bar in the way. This table is WONDERFUL. Thanks mom. Oh, she picked it up free on the side of the road, by the way!

Homemade Tees

If you know me, you know that I love these shirts from Shade Clothing. I can't find them online but I love that you don't need an undershirt of some kind. They're nice and light, long and comfy.

 Weird photo. But my first attempt at copying this shirt without a pattern. I cannot find a 50/50% cotton poly fabric here so I will keep my eye out. That will help with the comfort and stretchy-ness. 

 

 This is kind of an 80's fabric but a fun color.

 Oh, and previous dress with fabric added to bottom.

Miracle Stain Remover

Caution, this may only work on whites and bleach other clothing, I have yet to test it.

Hadley gagged on her gum while coughing. Up it came. Up also came about $2.00 worth of a virgin strawberry drink from the restaurant. :(

" OXICLEAN: I believe this is the recipe I used. Sorry I've pinned a couple but I believe this is the correct one.

• 1 part baking soda 
• 1 part hydrogen peroxide
• 2 parts water

Mix it all in a container to spot treat or just add straight to laundry if presoaking. (I've tried it on a couple things and it works AMAZING!) You just have to shake it before you use each time."

 Mix ingredients in bottle and spray on stain (which was still damp, that always helps)

Now it looks like this before washing.

 Out of the wash it came like this, dazzling white! I'm sold!

Thrifting for Crafts

My favorite shop right now, our local thrift shop. The stuff is very affordable, like 2 skinny belts for .50 each. That pillowcase for .50 will be a dress for Hadley, I'll show you soon. Black fabric became a maxi skirt and that gold chain and bracelet were a few bucks.

Another pillowcase, .75 wreath, pjs, cheap zippers, fabric for a bedskirt, a wallet for Hadley. I wanted to get her a wallet for a while. She's obsessed with pulling everything out of mine and it entertains her for a while but kind of scary. Now for .35 she can have her own. Those fake leather letters on ribbons from Michaels happened to include Hadley's 3 initials in the colors of her nursery!! Score. She loves them hanging in her room. She says "e,f,g" when she sees them. Books there are usually .15 each.

Luckily our landlord left some putty behind. Fill holes and sand down.

These Popsicle sticks were .10 cents at the thrift store. I wrote all kinds of fun date night ideas, some for at home and some for here and color coded accordingly. It's so fun to draw one out and party!

Examples: roast s'mores on the stove and eat out on the back patio while stargazing!
