thanksgiving crafts

Dustin selected this great branch outside for our "Thankful Tree"
It was then suspended above the feasting table.
Leaves were then cut out off cream card stock and a few were given to each person at the table. We took a moment before eating to reflect on  a few things we were thankful for and wrote one on each leaf. We then shared what we wrote as we pinned them to the tree with mini clothes pins. A great tradition and beautiful centerpiece.
And of course pilgrim hats. Kind of rough looking but yummy (as my brother who ate a few before dinner not realizing they were for the plates at dinner found out :)

Twisty Pie Crust

Decided to try something different for the pie this year. My mom's apple pie is a family FAVORITE and I got to make it this year.
I added a top crust of spiral pie dough!

Fun!!

Buzz Buzz Halloween Costume

Baby's First Halloween Costume
1. Consignment black onsie
2. Yellow felt
3. Tulle
4. Sequinned elastic for headband
5. Pom poms
6. Pipe cleaners
7. Elastic for waistband

Measure waist and take off about 2 inches from that measurement and cut elastic. Sew shut.
Figure out the length for your tulle and double it. Cut and start to loop around your elastic.
Keep on keepin' on...
See how it stretches out as you're putting the tulle on?

Cut strips in the yellow felt, sew some stripes on the onsie.
Measure head and cut/sew sequin headband.
Thread black pipe cleaner through headband and twist around a pencil.
Glue pom poms on end of antennae
Black leggings, black shoes and some wings, check!

Caramel chocolate pretzels

These treats are so easy and very yummy! Melt the caramels, add a bit of water, coat t3/4 of the pretzel and set in the refridgerator and then melt the chocolate and do the same...
You can then drizzle the other color of chocolate on and put in baggies. Wa la!

Mary Poppins Costume at $4

After scouring Pinterest at the 11th hour for a quick costume. Luckiliy I had almost everything for this costume already. A spool of red ribbon, some grapes and daisies and we were in business. (I didn't end up using the umbrella.)

Hope you had a great Halloween.
